PACU Registered Nurse Job in Saint Louis, MO

Join Barnes-Jewish Hospital Nursing as a Registered Nurse in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). You will work 3x12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, with 40 guaranteed hours per week and no weekend requirements. This 91-day assignment begins August 3, 2026, with weekly pay of $2,259.

Role Responsibilities

• Provide Phase I PACU care for postoperative patients recovering from general anesthesia
• Manage patients with multiple drains, vasoactive drips, mechanical ventilation, and complex postoperative needs
• Maintain a 1:2 patient ratio
• Pre-op patients for first cases from 5:30 AM to 7:30 AM when PACU census is low
• Float within the service line to meet facility needs
• Recognize and manage dysrhythmias; pass Relias EKG exam
• Care for surgical patients including GU, GYN, colorectal, minimally invasive, bariatric, ENT, and interventional radiology pre/post procedures
• Serve adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient populations
• Use Epic electronic health record system

Requirements

• RN degree with minimum 1 year nursing experience; first-time travelers welcome
• PACU experience required
• At least 1 year critical care or Level I Trauma Center experience; Level II Trauma experience preferred
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, Ventilator Management, IV Start, Telemetry, Critical Care
• Proficiency with IV vasopressors, ventilated patient care, and pre/post IR procedures
• Home address must be at least 75 miles from facility
• Navy scrubs required

• 24 hours of on-call per 6-week schedule period as needed
• Maximum 7 days requested time off per contract
