Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg

Job Details:

• Day shift from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
• Every other weekend required
• 2 years of experience required
• First-time travelers accepted
• Local candidates within 50 miles are not accepted
• Floating to other units is expected at times and must be confirmed with traveler prior to final signature
• Fast-paced inpatient surgical unit requiring previous surgical experience
• Patient ratio of 6:1 for days, nights, and weekends
• Will accept pediatric surgical patients aged 12 and above depending on surgical procedure
• Treats patients across age groups including adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
• Patient diagnoses include general surgery, abdominal surgery, urological surgery, orthopedic surgery, hysterectomy, mastectomy, spine surgery, and bariatric surgery
• Cannot guarantee block scheduling but shifts will be grouped together when available
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Charting system experience preferred; Meditech used on unit
• Required certifications: BLS
• Required skills include blood product administration, central line blood draw, chest tube management, colostomy/ileostomy care, heparin, insulin, PCA, PICC line management, telemetry remote monitoring, wound care/wound vac, continuous bladder irrigation, and others
• RTO policy: If one holiday falls in the assignment, expect to work it; if two holidays, expect to work one; if three, expect to work two; all RTO must be included in submission documentation
• 40 orientation hours required
