NICU RN Job in Lafayette, IN

IU Health Arnett Hospital is seeking a registered nurse for its 12-bed NICU unit in Lafayette, Indiana. This is a 91-day travel assignment starting December 1, 2026, with a weekly pay of $2,306.88.

Schedule and Expectations

• Work 3x12-hour night shifts per week
• Every other weekend requirement
• Floating within the Pediatrics department and NICU as needed
• Patient ratio of 1:3 for days, nights, and weekends
• Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
• Average unit census: 8.5 patients daily

Qualifications and Requirements

• Current RN license (non-Indiana residents only)
• Minimum 1.5 years of NICU or pediatric nursing experience
• Community hospital experience required
• Cerner charting experience required
• Current certifications: BLS, NRP, NRP Advanced, and STABLE

Clinical Skills Required

You will manage patients requiring administration of blood and blood products, anti-seizure medications, antibiotics/antivirals, and blood glucose monitoring. Additional competencies include breastfeeding support, bubble CPAP, conscious sedation, developmental care, feedings (bottle, breast, gavage), high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC), hyperbilirubinemia management, neonatal abstinence syndrome, neonatal sepsis, oxygen delivery systems, patient and family teaching, phototherapy, respiratory distress syndrome, seizure disorder care, sepsis workup, IV initiation and maintenance, suctioning (ETT, NT), telemetry monitoring, thermoregulation, UVC placement, vapotherm, and ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BiPAP/PEEP).

The unit offers interdisciplinary support including respiratory services, interpretation services, radiology, social services, pharmacy, and a dedicated unit secretary.
