Opportunity:

RN - ICU

Job Details:

• 12-hour shifts available as 3x12 (36 hours per week) or 4x12 (48 hours per week)
• Patient ratio of 1:2 with 1.5:1 ratio on days, nights, and weekends
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call required
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required; travel experience required
• First-time travelers not accepted
• Home address must be at least 75 miles from the facility
• Will float within service line to ICU units and down to med-surg as needed
• Block scheduling not available
• Maximum of 7 days of requested time off per contract
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, TNCC (preferred), CPI (preferred)
• Charting system: Epic experience required
• Scrub color: Navy
• Previous charge experience preferred; Trauma Level I experience preferred, Trauma Level II experience required
• Strong cardiac knowledge required; this is a multi-disciplinary ICU that sees fresh hearts; travel RNs will not take fresh cases but will be scheduled in the CTICU for coverage
• Patient diagnoses include respiratory failure/ARDS, acute chest pain/cardiac/arrhythmias, stroke, cardiac arrest, DKA, multi-organ failure, and sepsis
• Unit handles pre and post-op cardiac, thoracic, and abdominal surgeries; medicine and neuro-medicine overflow; pre- and post-transplant; and end-of-life/organ donation cases
• Required skills include: arterial line management, blood product administration, central line care/management, central venous pressure monitoring (CVP), pulmonary artery line/Swan Ganz monitoring, CRRT/dialysis, ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP management, care of ventilated patient, interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs), interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, management of patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure, CVA/acute stroke management, continuous IV sedation, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, emergency medications, PICC line management, starting and maintaining IVs, suctioning (ETT, NT), infection prevention, isolation precautions/PPE, phlebotomy, surgical wounds with drains/wound vac, and 12-lead EKG/ECG
• Special equipment used includes IV pumps/titration, CRRT/dialysis, ventilator/BiPAP, hemodynamic/invasive monitoring, and defibrillator/crash cart
• Interdisciplinary support available including physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, pharmacy, social services, and rapid response teams
• Unit has 21 beds and serves adult and geriatric patient populations
