PACU - Post Anesthesia Care

Job Details:

• 13-week contract assignment
• Night shift schedule
• Every other weekend and every other holiday required
• Up to 40 hours of pre-approved time off available per contract
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• Patient ratio experience of 1:4 required
• Epic charting system experience required
• Level I Trauma Center experience required
• Previous charge experience preferred
• BSN preferred
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, and PALS
• Virginia nursing license required (pending license accepted)
• Nursys verification required at submission
• References required
• Subject to 50-mile radius rule - local candidates not accepted for this unit
• Self-scheduling unit
• Care for pediatric patients across age groups including infants, pediatrics, and adolescents
• Provide preoperative and postoperative care in a 10-bed Pediatric PeriAnesthesia Unit with an additional 4-bed Pediatric Surgical Observation Unit (PSOU)
• Deliver specialized postoperative care for pediatric patients requiring overnight observation or extended recovery up to 23 hours following surgery
• Collaborate with anesthesia, surgery, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver individualized, family-centered care
• Perform ongoing assessments, manage pain and recovery, provide patient and family education, and coordinate safe discharge planning
• Apply strong clinical judgment and critical-thinking skills to recognize and respond to changes in pediatric patient condition
• Utilize interdisciplinary support services including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, radiology, and rapid response teams
• Travelers must float within their scope of practice as needed
