Med Surg RN Job in Hilo, HI

You will work as a Registered Nurse in the 34-bed adult surgical general unit at Hilo Medical Center. This is a Med Surg acute care role where you'll provide direct patient care on a flexible 3x12 shift schedule, with night availability.

• Work three 12-hour shifts per week on a flexible schedule
• Provide pre- and postoperative nursing care to surgical patients
• Care for patients following abdominal surgeries including laparoscopic cholecystectomy, appendectomy, mastectomy, thyroidectomy, and chest tube/drain management
• Maintain a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1 RN to 5–6 patients
• Perform standard RN duties including vital signs monitoring, IV and PCA pump management, and electronic medical record (EMR) charting via WOWS and Pyxis
• May float to other units or departments as needed

Requirements:

• Active State of Hawaii nursing license required by assignment start date
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience
• Strong background in pre- and postoperative care
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Standard nursing uniform dress code

This assignment runs for 91 days, beginning September 7, 2026. Weekly pay is $2,102.40. You will work in a busy surgical acute care setting where your experience with postoperative patients and surgical procedures will be directly applied to patient outcomes and unit operations.
