PCU - Progressive Care Unit

RN - PCU Stepdown

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• No block scheduling requests accepted
• Weekend requirement based on unit needs and demands
• Holiday flexibility required based on unit needs and demands
• Shorter assignment lengths of no less than 8 weeks available with 48-hour weekly guarantee (does not apply to 13-week assignments)
• Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment or 3 shifts for assignments less than 13 weeks
• Patient ratio of 1:4 with CNA support at 1:8-12
• Unit consists of 32 beds on PCU Nursing Float unit
• Charting system: EPIC
• May float to 4th, 5th, or 6th floor for PCU patients as well as MS/Tele and PCU floors
• Floor-specific orientation includes 12 hours of policy/procedure training and 12 hours on unit with preceptor, plus EPIC training as needed
• Free charge nurse available on unit
• Nurse aides, telemetry monitors, IV team (11:00 AM - 11:00 PM), respiratory therapy (24/7), and pharmacy (24/7) support available
• Remote telemetry monitor techs available; nurses are required to read strips
• Administer drips including nitroglycerin, heparin, cardizem, nicardipine, amiodarone, insulin, dopamine, esmolol, labetalol, milrinone, argatroban, and aggrastat
• No ventilator management required
• Hospitalist and intensivist available in-house 24/7
• Common patient diagnoses include CVA/TIA, STEMI/NSTEMI, chest pain/rule out MI, ACS, CHF, renal failure (acute and chronic), respiratory failure/distress, DKA/HHNK, PE/DVT, afib, pre/post cardiac angiogram, stents, pacemaker, cardiac ablation, pre-CABG, and CIWA
• Experience with CAPD (Peritoneal Dialysis) is a plus but not required
• No specific scrub color required
• BSN not required
• Required certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), NIHSS
• Washington state or compact nursing license required
