Opportunity:

RN - ICU Neuro

Job Details:

• 12-hour night shifts from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
• 36 hours per week offered
• Schedule is per unit needs with every other weekend required
• No on-call requirement
• Float requirement: Yes
• Patient ratios are 2:1, with the ability to flex up to 3:1 during high census periods
• Average daily census of 11-12 patients; unit has 13 beds
• Minimum 2 years of Neuro ICU experience required - strong neuro critical care background required, not just general ICU
• First-time travelers will not be accepted
• Travel experience required
• Epic charting system experience required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Required skills: Vents, IV Start, Neuro Intensive Care Unit, Interpretation of dysrhythmias, Management of dysrhythmias, Blood Product Administration, Central line care/management, Continuous IV sedation, CVA/Acute Stroke management, External ventricular drains (EVD), ICP Monitoring, Post Neurosurgery management, Care of Ventilated Patient, Isolation Precautions/Use of PPE, Lumbar Drain experience
• Preferred skills: Arterial line management
• Special equipment used: EVD, Lumbar Drains, Camino, LICOX, NICOM, and Arctic Sun
• Unit systems: Pyxis, EPIC, SBAR
• Patient population includes: strokes (ischemic, hemorrhagic [SAH]), SDH, craniotomies, carotid stents, carotid endarterectomies, aneurysm coiling/clipping, seizures, depth electrodes, and myasthenia gravis
• Drains used: EVDs, LDs, hemovacs, and Camino (ICP monitoring)
• Comprehensive Stroke Center designation
• Interdisciplinary support includes: IV Teams, Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Phlebotomy, Radiology, Lift Teams, Rapid Response Teams, Pharmacy, and Transportation
• Scrubs: Navy blue and white
• Orientation: 24 hours (2 days or 2 nights)
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
