About this role

You will work as a Registered Nurse in a float pool position across Progressive Care Unit and Med/Surg Intermediate departments at BJC West – Saint Lukes South Hospital in Overland Park, Kansas. This role offers 3x12 night shifts with a weekly pay of $2,212.53 for a 91-day assignment beginning August 3, 2026.

Position Details

  • Float between approximately 5 units across PCU and Med/Surg Intermediate departments, with possible assignments to other Metro campuses as needed
  • Patient ratio of 1:5 on days, nights, and weekends
  • Minimum of 8 weekend shifts required every six weeks (Friday, Saturday, or Sunday combination)
  • Holiday shifts and Charge RN assignments as needed
  • No on-call required
  • Guaranteed 3 shifts per 13 weeks; cancelled shifts match your regular assigned shift length
  • Maximum 7 days of requested time off; longer requests require approval

Requirements

  • 1 to 2 years of nursing experience; first-time travelers accepted
  • Current BLS, NIHSS certifications and Missouri or Compact license required
  • Both Kansas and Missouri licenses (or valid Compact license) required due to floating between campuses
  • ACLS certification preferred

Core Skills

  • Cardiac Telemetry and on-unit telemetry monitoring
  • Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
  • Medical/Surgical and Telemetry care
  • Neuro Stepdown nursing
  • Pre- and post-cardiac catheterization care
  • Preferred: sheath removal, feeding tube care, port access and management, blood product administration, central line care

Patient Population

You will care for adults and geriatric patients with diagnoses including sepsis, wound care, alcohol withdrawal, suicidal ideation, renal failure, atrial fibrillation, gastrointestinal bleeding, and stroke.

Facility Support

The hospital uses Epic for charting and provides virtual nurses, 12-lead EKG, AirVo, Voalte, and Omnicell equipment. Interdisciplinary support includes IV Teams, Physical Therapy, Interpretation Services, Phlebotomy, Radiology, Rapid Response Teams, and Pharmacy.
