PCU - Progressive Care Unit

Opportunity:

Registered Nurse - PCU

Job Details:

• Float pool position - will not be assigned a home unit; will float between approximately 5 units across Med/Surg Intermediate/PCU departments and other metro campuses as needed
• Patient ratio of 1:5 on days, nights, and weekends
• Minimum of 8 weekend shifts required every six weeks, with a combination of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday shifts
• Holiday shifts and Charge RN assignments as needed per unit
• No on-call required
• Block scheduling not available
• Guaranteed hours: 3 shifts per 13 weeks; cancelled shifts must be the regular assigned shift length
• Maximum of 7 days of requested time off per contract
• 1 to 2 years of experience required; first-time travelers accepted
• Charge RN experience preferred
• Charting system: Epic
• Patient population: Adults and Geriatrics
• Work settings include MS/Tele, Telemetry, Cardiac Telemetry, and Neuro Stepdown
• Required skills include cardiac monitoring, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, telemetry on-unit monitoring, Pre/Post Cardiac Cath, and experience with Sepsis, wound care, ETOH, SI, Renal Failure, AFIB, GIB, and Stroke
• Preferred skills include sheath removal, feeding tube care and management, accessing ports, blood product administration, and central line care and management
• Special equipment used includes Virtual Nurses, 12-lead EKG, AirVo, Voalte, and Omnicell
• Interdisciplinary support available including IV Teams, Physical Therapy, Interpretation Services, Phlebotomy, Radiology, Rapid Response Teams, and Pharmacy
• Required certifications: BLS, NIHSS, and Missouri or Compact License
• Preferred certifications: ACLS
• Both Kansas and Missouri licenses (or compact license) required at time of submission due to floating requirements
