Job Details:

• Function as part of the surgical healthcare team, providing technical support to surgeons, RNs, and anesthesia providers in the operating room setting
• Work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse
• Arrange supplies and instruments and maintain accurate counts at all times during operations
• Pass instruments and other sterile supplies to the surgeon during procedures
• Assist with applying dressings and help prepare and preserve specimens taken for testing
• Operate sterilizers and run tests to validate and verify sterilization of surgical instruments in the Sterile Processing area
• Validate sterility of packaged supplies
• Clean and decontaminate surgical instruments following use in surgery after regular hours
• Check instruments before cases for proper sterility and ensure instruments are in proper working condition before and after cases
• Apply principles of aseptic practice in varying situations
• Inspect sterile items for contamination before opening and maintain sterility while opening sterile items
• Anticipate the need for supplies and equipment, check supplies for outdates, restock operating room, and order supplies to maintain adequate on-hand supply
• Must be able to stand and walk for long periods and perform heavy lifting
• Must be able to perform effectively in moderate to high stress situations
• Minimum of 5 years of current experience as a Surgical Technician required
• Certified Surgical Technician (CST) certification required
• Must be registered as a Surgical Technician with the State of Colorado
