Respiratory Therapist Job in Portland, ME

You will work as a Registered Respiratory Therapist at MMC-P Bramhall Campus, a tertiary teaching hospital with level 1 trauma services. This is a backfill position offering 36 guaranteed weekly hours on a 4x12 day shift schedule, working 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM. You will earn $2,830 per week for a 112-week assignment beginning October 19, 2026.

Role and Responsibilities

• Deliver respiratory care across the entire facility as part of a team of 14–16 registered respiratory therapists
• Float between multiple units including NICU, PICU, acute care pediatrics, emergency department, adult acute care, and critical care settings
• Manage patient ratios of 1:25 in acute care and 1:8 in critical care
• Operate a range of ventilators including Drager V500 and VN500, Hamilton T1 and C1, Respironics V30 and V60, Trilogy line, Airvo, and Vapotherm
• Participate in call rotation (approximately one call shift per month with a 2-hour oncoming shift requirement)
• Work every other weekend as part of the standard schedule
• Document care in the EPIC electronic medical record system

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of respiratory therapy experience
• Current RRT certification and BLS certification
• ACLS certification preferred
• NRP certification required for NICU assignments
• Tertiary teaching hospital experience required
• Level 1 trauma experience required
• Demonstrated competency with the ventilator equipment listed above
• Flexibility, strong teamwork, and excellent communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• NICU and PICU experience
• Cardiothoracic experience

Scrubs are provided, or you may choose flexible dress code options. You will work collaboratively within a large respiratory therapy team in a dynamic teaching hospital environment.
