RN - Cardiac Tele

Job Details:

• Minimum 2 years of experience required; first-time travelers not accepted
• Travel experience required
• Patient population: Adults to Geriatrics
• Patient ratio: 1:5-6 days/nights, 1:6 weekends; 32-bed unit
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• Must have experience managing continuous IV drips including cardiac drips (Amiodarone, Cardizem, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Milrinone, Nitroglycerin), diuretics (Bumex, Lasix), anticoagulants (Aggrastat, Argatroban, Heparin), and insulin drips
• Must have basic arrhythmia knowledge, hemodynamic monitoring, and experience with post PCI patient care
• Skills required include: cardiac telemetry, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, blood product administration, central line care and management, PICC line management, peripheral line care and management, heparin protocols, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, titration of insulin drips, TR Band, pre/post cardiac cath, and use of rapid response/code teams
• Unit handles overflow IMCU patients including arrhythmia management, cardioversion, cardiac CHF, chest pain, renal, pulmonary (COPD, pulmonary edema), PE, DVT, stable cardiac arrhythmias (A-Fib, SVT, Bradycardia), surgical patients (cholecystectomy, appendectomies, chest tubes, biliary drains), occasional vascular patients, post cardiac cath, TR Bands, DKA, and occasional ortho or CVA overflow patients
• Special equipment: High Flow and BiPAP (RT available 24/7); telemetry competency exam required
• Charting systems: Epic (preferred), Pyxis, SBAR
• Scrub color: Navy Blue
• Floating required within the facility and scope of practice as needed
• Call is rare; response time is 2 hours
• Weekend coverage required; typically every other weekend though permanent staff are scheduled first and travelers fill in gaps (approximately 6 weekend shifts per contract)
• Holiday coverage required: if 1-2 major holidays fall within the assignment period, traveler is expected to work all applicable holidays; if 3 major holidays fall within the assignment period, traveler is expected to work 2 of the holidays
• Major holidays include: Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day
• Maximum of 7 days of requested time off per contract; all RTO must be finalized at time of submission
• No RTO or schedule requests can be made post-offer or onsite; no RTO during orientation week
• Interdisciplinary support available including respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and transportation
• Georgia or compact nursing license required
