Med Surg RN Job in Redding, CA

You will work as a registered nurse on a 17-bed medical-surgical orthopedic unit at Mercy Medical Center Redding. This is a night shift position with a 91-day assignment starting September 15, 2026.

Shift and Schedule

• Three 12-hour night shifts per week, 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
• Every other weekend requirement with four weekend shifts in a 4-week schedule
• Patient ratio of 1:5 on the med-surg orthopedic unit

Role Details

You will care for orthopedic patients including those recovering from hip, knee, shoulder, and spine procedures. The unit does not manage drips. You may float to the telemetry unit (1:4 ratio) or between med-surg floors as needed. A clinical supervisor serves as charge nurse with no patient assignment and provides break relief.

Unit Resources

• One shift of orientation to the unit provided
• Nurse aide support available for 8 hours during day shift
• Monitor tech support available for portable telemetry box as needed
• Charting system: Cerner
• Navy scrubs required

Clinical Requirements

You must be able to read and interpret telemetry and will be required to take a dysrhythmia exam. Current BLS certification is mandatory. A minimum of 2–3 years of experience in medical-surgical orthopedic nursing is required. Previous travel healthcare experience is required.

Compensation

Weekly pay is $2,462.40.
