Med Surg RN Job in Albany, GA

You will work as a Registered Nurse on a 14-bed acute medical-surgical unit at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, Georgia. This is a three-days-per-week position with 12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, including every other weekend. The assignment runs for 119 days, starting July 7, 2026, and pays $2,258 per week.

Your daily responsibilities include:

• Provide direct patient care using a primary care nursing model
• Manage a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6
• Administer medications including Lasix, Bumex, and Heparin
• Care for patients with diabetes, CHF, COPD, GI bleed, renal failure, dialysis needs, post-surgical overflow, amputations, debridements, wound care, DVTs, ETOH, and psychiatric conditions
• Support patients on CPAP at night and BiPAP at night as needed
• Collaborate with CNA support available at a 1:12 ratio
• Float to all acute care, cardiology, and emergency care areas for acute patient holds as needed
• Chart using MEDITECH
• Participate in shift handoff from 6:45 to 7:15 AM and PM

Requirements:

• Current RN license (state license required at application)
• 2 years of experience in medical-surgical nursing
• 1 prior travel assignment
• Experience at a larger, high-acuity, fast-paced organization (Critical Access Hospital experience not accepted)
• BLS certification (AHA)
• NIHSS certification
• ACLS certification preferred
• Ability to work in a high-acuity, high-turnover, fast-paced environment

Facility details:

The monitored unit is on a different floor; nurses are not required to read strips. You must adhere to the dress code (Caribbean Blue top and bottom, white top with Caribbean Blue bottom, or all white), maintain polished nails only (no artificial, shellac, or acrylic), and follow facility policies regarding personal belongings and strict attendance. A 12-hour cancellation notice is required every 2 weeks. You must live within a 75-mile radius of the facility; your driver's license address will be verified at submission.
