Med Surg RN Job in Wausau, WI

Aspirus Wausau Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse for a 13-week travel assignment in Medical-Surgical care. You will work 3x12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) with 36 guaranteed hours per week, earning $2,377.08 weekly. The assignment begins September 8, 2026.

Unit Overview

You will join a 40-bed Post Surgical Care Unit serving adult and geriatric patients in pre- and post-surgical recovery. The unit maintains 90–95% occupancy during the week with an average length of stay of 2–3 days. Day and PM shifts see the highest admission volume, averaging 10–15 admissions daily. On night shifts, you will manage a 1:5 to 1:7 nurse-to-patient ratio while providing direct patient care and monitoring.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver pre- and post-surgical nursing care to assigned patients
• Float to other inpatient units as needed to support operational demands
• Use Epic EMR for charting, Rovers for medication scanning, and Alaris pumps for medication delivery
• Multitask and prioritize care based on patient acuity in a fast-paced environment
• Participate in every-other-weekend and holiday rotations

Required Qualifications

• Current Wisconsin RN License
• BLS certification (AHA or ARC)
• Minimum 2+ years of Medical-Surgical nursing experience
• Recent hospital experience required
• Trauma Level II facility experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• Associate Degree or Certificate in Nursing (Bachelor's Degree preferred)
