Med Surg RN Job in Wausau, WI

Aspirus Wausau Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse for a 13-week contract assignment on the Medical-Surgical unit. You will work 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, three days per week, with a guaranteed 36 hours of work weekly. This is an excellent opportunity to provide direct patient care in a dynamic healthcare setting.

Role Responsibilities:

• Provide nursing care to medical and surgical patients on the MAP Unit
• Float to all inpatient units as needed
• Manage typical patient ratios of 1:6–7 on nights
• Participate in every-other-weekend and every-other-holiday rotation schedules
• Document and manage care using the EPIC charting system
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members and ancillary staff

Patient Population:

You will care for patients with common diagnoses including respiratory illnesses, stroke, neurological conditions, gastrointestinal illness, diabetic management, renal failure, urinary tract disorders, sepsis, wound care, clotting disorders, infectious disease processes, and acute alcohol withdrawal.

Requirements:

• Current Wisconsin RN License
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification—AHA or ARC
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience; Trauma Level II experience highly preferred
• EPIC charting experience required
• Associate Degree or Certificate in Nursing; Bachelor's Degree preferred
• Ability to work independently and manage tasks in a timely manner
• Demonstrated resilience, flexibility, and positive attitude when managing shift changes

Compensation and Schedule:

Weekly pay is $2,574. The contract runs 13 weeks, starting September 14, 2026. You are eligible for 36 hours of low census unbillable time, which can be used in hour increments as needed, typically in 4-hour blocks. Any color scrubs are acceptable.
