About this role
You'll work as a Registered Nurse in the Intensive Care Unit at University of Virginia Medical Center, a 91-day travel assignment beginning September 28, 2026. This is a night shift position offering 4x12-hour blocks at $2,547 per week.
Role Overview
You'll be part of a float pool rotating across multiple ICU and intermediate care units, including Medical ICU, Thoracic Cardiovascular ICU, Coronary Care Unit, Surgical Trauma ICU (Level 1), Neuro & Neurosurgery ICU, Critical Care and Intermediate Care Special Pathogens Unit, Thoracic Cardiovascular Intermediate Unit, Surgical Trauma Intermediate Unit, Neuro & Neurosurgery Intermediate Unit, and ED Boarders. Patient ratios are 2 patients on nights. You'll care for adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients.
Scheduling & Time Off
Every other weekend and every other holiday are required, including 2 out of 3 winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Black Friday, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day). Block scheduling cannot be guaranteed. You may take a maximum of 40 hours of pre-approved time off per 13-week contract, with no time off approved during your first 2 weeks.
Requirements
- Current Virginia nursing license (pending licenses accepted)
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience
- Travel healthcare experience
- Epic charting system experience
- ACLS and BLS certifications
- Competency in care of ventilated patients and interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
Preferred Qualifications
- TNCC and CCRN certifications
- Experience with continuous IV sedation, ICP monitoring, procedural sedation administration/monitoring, pulmonary artery line/Swan Ganz monitoring, and Level 1 trauma
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Support & Resources
You'll have access to interdisciplinary support including IV Teams, Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Phlebotomy, Radiology, Social Services, Rapid Response Teams, and Pharmacy. You must adhere to float pool policies within your scope of practice and provide professional references.
