Opportunity:

Registered Nurse - PACU

Job Details:

• Day shift position working 8:00 AM to 6:30 PM, Monday through Friday
• No weekends, no holidays, and no on-call requirements
• Position covers procedural pre and post care for endoscopy and interventional radiology patients
• Minimum 2 years of PACU experience in a Level I Trauma Center required
• ICU/critical care experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS; CCRN and TNCC preferred
• Charting system: Epic (experience required)
• Scrub color: Navy Blue
• Patient population includes adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients
• Care for high-acuity post-operative patients requiring artificial airways, invasive monitoring including ICP, transfusions, and vasoactive drugs
• Surgical patients recovered include neurosurgery, ENT, plastics, orthopedics, thoracic, vascular, trauma, general, colorectal, GYN, urological, electrophysiology, interventional radiology, and transplant
• Open heart surgeries and liver transplants are not recovered in this unit
• Experience required with drains, vasoactive drips, mechanical ventilation, and recovery from general anesthesia
• Required skills include: blood product administration, cardiac care, care of ventilated patients, dysrhythmia recognition and management, ICP monitoring, IV vasopressors, phlebotomy, starting and maintaining IVs, Phase I PACU, pre-op assessment, pre-op education, pre-op medications, and pre/post IR procedures
• Experience with post cardiac surgery, lobectomy, chest trauma, ex-lap, splenectomy, and trauma patients required
• Must pass Relias EKG exam
• May float to PACU or Pre-Op units only
• Guaranteed hours: 3 shifts per 13-week contract
• Unit operates 24/7 with 38 patient bays and average daily census of 70-90
• Unit has its own PCT and transport team with interdisciplinary support including respiratory services, interpretation services, and rapid response teams
