PCU Registered Nurse Job in Bismarck, ND

You will work as a Registered Nurse in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) at CHI St Alexius Health Bismarck Medical Center. This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning September 21, 2026, with a weekly pay of $2,250. You will work three 12-hour night shifts per week (7:00 PM to 7:00 AM).

Unit Details:

• 32-bed PCU with charge nurse present on both day and night shifts
• Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4–5 on nights, with occasional 1:5–6; PCU overflow ratio of 1:3
• Nurse aides and patient care techs available with a goal ratio of 1:10
• Telemetry portable monitors, in-room monitors, and a monitoring tech at the nurses station

Your Responsibilities:

• Provide care for adult and geriatric patients with diagnoses including cardiac caths, EP studies, pacers, ETOH, COVID BiPAP, general surgical patients with cardiac history, pneumonia, acute on chronic conditions, influenza, and sepsis
• Titrate drips including Amiodarone, Cardizem, Heparin, Nitro, Nipride, and Lasix
• Read and interpret cardiac strips independently
• Work with BiPAP, trachs, and Airvo respiratory equipment
• Float to all areas as needed, including PCU with full patient load, med/surg with full assignment, and occasional ER holds/boarding

Schedule & Requirements:

• Every other weekend required
• Every other holiday required
• First to float when needed
• Rotating shifts will not occur more than weekly
• Two 12-hour orientation shifts during your first week

Qualifications:

• PCU experience required
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications
• Comfortable with first-time travelers
• EPIC charting system preferred but not required

Any color scrubs are permitted. You will have access to a 32-bed unit with dedicated support staff and monitoring technology.
