About this role
You will work as a registered nurse in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) at CHI St Alexius Health Bismarck Medical Center. This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning October 19, 2026, with 3x12 night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM). Your weekly pay is $2,250.
Your Responsibilities
- Care for adult and geriatric patients with diagnoses including cardiac catheterization, EP studies, pacemakers, ETOH withdrawal, COVID BiPAP support, post-surgical cardiac cases, pneumonia, acute-on-chronic conditions, influenza, and sepsis
- Titrate drips including Amiodarone, Cardizem, Heparin, Nitro, Nipride, Lasix, and low-dose Dopamine
- Read and interpret telemetry strips independently
- Operate respiratory equipment including BiPAP, trachs, and Airvo
- Float to PCU for full patient load, medical/surgical units for full assignment, and occasional ER holds/boarding
- Manage nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4–5 on day shifts and 1:5–6 on nights; PCU overflow care at 1:3
Unit Support and Environment
- Charge nurse available on all shifts with light patient load of 2–3 patients
- Nurse aides and patient care techs with goal ratio of 1:10
- Telemetry portable and room monitors with monitor tech at nurses' station
- Epic charting system (preferred)
- Any color scrubs permitted
Scheduling
- Every other weekend requirement
- Every other holiday requirement
- 48-hour shift blocks available
- First to float when needed
- 2 orientation shifts (12 hours each)
Requirements
- Valid RN license
- PCU experience required
- Ability to read and interpret cardiac strips
- Tele/cardiac nursing background strongly preferred
- ACLS and BLS certifications required
- BSN not required
- First-time travelers welcome
