About this role

Northwest – UPMC Chautauqua is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to join our clinical team. This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning September 6, 2026.

Position Details

  • Schedule: 3 days per week, 12-hour night shifts (36 hours weekly)
  • Weekly pay: $2,233.80
  • Duration: 91 days
  • Facility: Northwest – UPMC Chautauqua, Jamestown, NY

Your Responsibilities

  • Provide respiratory therapy services and life support to patients with cardiopulmonary deficiencies across all patient populations and service areas
  • Read prescriptions, measure arterial blood gases, and review patient information to assess condition and determine treatment requirements
  • Evaluate the appropriateness of medical orders and interpret clinical data to optimize patient outcomes
  • Set up and operate mechanical ventilators, therapeutic gas administration apparatus, environmental control systems, and aerosol generators
  • Monitor and adjust equipment to ensure specified treatment parameters including volume, gas concentration, humidity, and temperature
  • Monitor patient physiological responses to therapy including vital signs, arterial blood gases, and blood chemistry changes
  • Perform bronchopulmonary drainage and assist patients with breathing exercises
  • Perform pulmonary function tests and consult with physicians regarding adverse reactions
  • Assist with transport of mechanically ventilated patients and respond to all code situations
  • Maintain accurate patient charts with pertinent identification and therapy information

Requirements

  • Allied Health Professional credential (Respiratory Therapist)
  • Minimum 2 years of experience
  • Graduate of a CoARC-approved Respiratory program
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification
  • New York state license required
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) may be required for certain facilities
