About this role
Northwest – UPMC Chautauqua is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to join our clinical team. This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning September 6, 2026.
Position Details
- Schedule: 3 days per week, 12-hour night shifts (36 hours weekly)
- Weekly pay: $2,233.80
- Duration: 91 days
- Facility: Northwest – UPMC Chautauqua, Jamestown, NY
Your Responsibilities
- Provide respiratory therapy services and life support to patients with cardiopulmonary deficiencies across all patient populations and service areas
- Read prescriptions, measure arterial blood gases, and review patient information to assess condition and determine treatment requirements
- Evaluate the appropriateness of medical orders and interpret clinical data to optimize patient outcomes
- Set up and operate mechanical ventilators, therapeutic gas administration apparatus, environmental control systems, and aerosol generators
- Monitor and adjust equipment to ensure specified treatment parameters including volume, gas concentration, humidity, and temperature
- Monitor patient physiological responses to therapy including vital signs, arterial blood gases, and blood chemistry changes
- Perform bronchopulmonary drainage and assist patients with breathing exercises
- Perform pulmonary function tests and consult with physicians regarding adverse reactions
- Assist with transport of mechanically ventilated patients and respond to all code situations
- Maintain accurate patient charts with pertinent identification and therapy information
Requirements
- Allied Health Professional credential (Respiratory Therapist)
- Minimum 2 years of experience
- Graduate of a CoARC-approved Respiratory program
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification
- New York state license required
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) may be required for certain facilities
