Med Surg RN Job in Cedar Rapids, IA

You will work as a Registered Nurse in the Medical-Surgical unit at UnityPoint - St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. This is a temporary position for 91 days, beginning November 16, 2026.

Position Details

• Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, nights
• Weekly pay: $2,362
• No on-call responsibilities
• Patient ratios: 1:5–6 on night shifts
• 46-bed unit serving medical-surgical patients, including all surgical cases except orthopedic and spine
• You will float across Med Surg units as needed throughout the facility
• Scrub colors required: Black or Blue

Clinical Requirements

• Minimum 24 months of current medical-surgical, stepdown, or progressive care experience
• Experience with drips: amiodarone, diltiazem, heparin, dobutamine, and milrinone
• Experience with equipment: chest tubes, JP drain, 3-way foley, and NG tubes
• EPIC electronic medical records experience
• Skills checklist specific to medical-surgical discipline required

Credentials and Licensing

• Active Iowa nursing license or compact/Multistate license required at time of submission
• BLS (AHA) certification required
• First-time travelers welcome

You will receive concrete clinical experience in a busy surgical unit with variable weekend scheduling as assigned. This role offers the opportunity to work in a structured environment with clear patient acuity expectations and no additional on-call demands.
