Med Surg RN Job in Des Moines, IA

UnityPoint – Iowa Lutheran Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for a temporary Med Surg position in Des Moines, IA. This is a 91-day assignment beginning November 9, 2026, working 4x12 night shifts at $2,759 per week.

Role Details:

• Float across multiple campuses including Iowa Methodist Medical Center and Iowa Lutheran
• 30-bed Med Surg unit with a patient ratio of 1:4–5
• Every 3rd weekend schedule; no on-call responsibilities
• Post-operative care including hip and knee replacements, mastectomies, and abdominal surgeries
• Patient care experience with PCA pumps and Heparin drips

Requirements:

• Active Iowa nursing license (or compact/multistate license at time of submission)
• 24 months of Medical Surgical experience in a hospital or medical center setting
• Post-operative surgical experience highly preferred
• EPIC EMR experience required
• BLS certification (AHA or ARC) required
• Skills checklist specific to Med Surg or Med Surg/Telemetry required
• Current driver's license required
• Professional reference from a charge nurse, supervisor, nurse manager, director, CNO, or COO within the past 24 months preferred

Additional Information:

You will be required to work 1–2 of the 3 upcoming winter holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Year.
