Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg

Job Details:

• 36 or 48 hour schedules considered
• On call requirement of one shift per 6-week schedule
• 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule (Saturday and Sunday are considered weekend shifts)
• Patient ratios of 5:1 for days, nights, and weekends
• Daily census of 10-13 patients
• 13-bed unit focused on Med-Surg care with no telemetry monitoring or cardiovascular drips
• Patient population includes adults and geriatrics
• Common patient diagnoses include post-op, orthopedic, diabetes, pneumonia, wound care, CBI, and URO cases
• Interdisciplinary support available including physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, radiology, social services, phlebotomy, rapid response teams, and interpretation services
• Required skills include accessing/managing ports, BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, central line blood draw, chest tubes, colostomy/ileostomy management, continuous bladder irrigation, feeding tube care, heparin administration, high flow nasal cannula, insulin administration, IV starts and maintenance, PICC line management, telemetry, total joint replacement care, wound care/wound vac, and use of rapid response/code teams
• Charting system: Altera (preferred, not required)
• 2 years of experience in Med-Surg required
• Travel experience required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Texas nursing license required and must be in hand at time of submittal
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Must be located more than 150 miles from facility
