ED - Emergency Room

Job Details:

• Day shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM with variable start times of 7:00 AM, 9:00 AM, 11:00 AM, 1:00 PM, 3:00 PM, or 7:00 PM
• 12-hour shifts with every other weekend requirement
• Expected to work some holidays
• No on-call or standby requirement
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4
• Primary placement at Virginia Mason Medical Center with potential float requirement to St. Anne Hospital in Burien, WA and St. Francis Hospital in Federal Way, WA with an additional $20/hour when floated within Region I
• STEMI receiving and comprehensive Stroke Center with 17 beds that can flex to 22 with hallway beds
• Fast track patients through triage lobby; travelers with triage experience may be assigned to triage
• ER holds are intermixed within the ED with the ED nurse serving as primary nurse
• 4 designated rooms for psych patients; in-house security available 24/7 in the ED
• Average of 66 patients treated per day
• Common diagnoses include stroke, STEMI, sepsis, chest pain, psychosis, and behavioral health; rare pediatric cases (1%) treated and transferred
• Common drips include insulin, cardiac drips, sedation, and critical drips
• RNs responsible for drawing labs with phlebotomy available to assist when needed
• RNs responsible for breathing treatments and reading telemetry strips with Phillips monitors
• Travelers may be utilized in a charge nurse role, particularly on night shifts
• Orientation consists of one 12-hour shift with an experienced ED RN
• Charting system: EPIC
• Scrub color: Royal Blue
• Drivers License required at time of submittal
• Minimum one year of experience required; preference for travelers who have completed 1-2 prior travel assignments
• Behavioral health experience strongly preferred
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS (AHA), NIHSS, PALS
