PICU Registered Nurse Job in Anchorage, AK

Opportunity:

RN - PICU

Job Details:

• 12-hour shifts with guaranteed hours up to 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend requirement
• Block scheduling available
• No on-call required
• Patient ratios: PICU 1:2; ventilated patients typically 1:1; pediatric floor 1:4
• Float within scope to NICU and Pediatrics as needed to meet facility needs
• May assist with checking off and orienting PICU trainees as a secondary assignment
• Charge nurse typically carries no patient assignment; CNA and med clerk support staff available
• Required certifications: BLS, PALS
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Trauma Level II experience preferred
• Must be culturally sensitive to Native population
• Charting system: Cerner; Epic experience preferred
• Scrub color: Navy
• No cost for parking
• Key skills include: ventilator management, hemodynamic monitoring, care of ventilated patients, ICP monitoring, central line care, IV vasopressors, continuous sedation, pediatric dosage calculations, management of chest tubes, tracheostomy care, and procedural sedation administration/monitoring
• Patient diagnoses include: RSV, influenza, SI/HI, epilepsy, TBI, and general surgical/medical cases
• Interdisciplinary support includes: physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, pharmacy, social services, rapid response teams, and interpretation services
