PICU Registered Nurse Job in Anchorage, AK

Opportunity:

RN - PICU

Job Details:

• 12-hour shifts with guaranteed hours up to 36 hours per week
• Block scheduling available
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call required
• Patient ratios: PICU 1:2; Pediatric floor 1:4; Ventilated patients typically 1:1
• Float within scope to NICU and Peds as needed to meet facility needs
• May assist with checking off PICU-trained nurses with orientees as a secondary assignment
• Charge nurse typically carries no patient assignment; CNAs and a med clerk available as support staff
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• First-time travelers accepted
• Must be culturally sensitive to Native Population
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Trauma Level II experience preferred
• Scrub color: Navy
• Charting system: Cerner (Epic preferred)
• Required certifications: BLS, PALS
• Key skills include: ventilator management, care of ventilated patients, hemodynamic monitoring, ICP monitoring, central line care, IV vasopressors, continuous sedation, procedural sedation, BiPAP/CPAP management, pediatric dosage calculations, and tracheostomy care
• Patient age groups include neonates, infants, pediatrics, and adolescents
• Interdisciplinary support available including physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, radiology, social services, and rapid response teams
