PICU Nurse Job in Anchorage, AK

Opportunity:

RN - PICU

Job Details:

• 12-hour shifts with guaranteed hours up to 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend requirement
• Block scheduling available
• No on-call required
• Patient ratios: PICU 1:2; Pediatric floor 1:4; Ventilated patients typically 1:1
• Float within scope to NICU and Pediatrics as needed to meet facility needs
• May assist with checking off nurses who need PICU training; orientee assignments may occur but will not be the primary assignment
• Charge nurse typically carries no patient assignment; CNA and med clerk support staff available
• Daily census range of 4–7 patients across a combined PICU/PEDS unit of 19 beds
• Patient age groups include neonates, infants, adolescents, and pediatrics
• Common diagnoses include RSV, flu, SI/HI, epilepsy, TBI, and general surgical/medical cases
• Required certifications: BLS, PALS
• Minimum 2 years of PICU experience required
• Must be culturally sensitive to the Native population served
• Charting system: Cerner; EPIC experience preferred
• Scrub color: Navy
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Trauma Level II experience preferred
• Key skills include ventilator management, hemodynamic monitoring, ICP monitoring, care of ventilated patients, IV vasopressors, central line care, continuous sedation, and pediatric dosage calculations
