About this role

Join WVU Jefferson Medical Center as a Registered Nurse in the Intensive Care Unit. This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning October 19, 2026, offering you the opportunity to provide critical care in a dynamic healthcare setting.

Role Overview

You will work three 12-hour night shifts per week, from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, with rotating weekend and holiday coverage. Expect four weekend shifts per four-week schedule (Friday and Saturday nights). Patient ratios typically range from 1:3–5 depending on acuity, with occasional float assignments to Med-Surg where ratios are 1:5–6. Floating is rare.

Unit Details

The ICU consists of ten beds: five dedicated ICU beds and five telemetry beds. You will care for patients with diverse diagnoses including ventilated patients, trauma, bowel obstructions, COPD, and overdose cases requiring mechanical ventilation.

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Administer IV drips and manage ventilators, BiPAP, CPAP, and high-flow oxygen equipment
  • Monitor patients using Phillips Cardiac Monitors with monitor technicians available at the nurses' station
  • Perform IV placement—no IV team on-site, so nurses handle all insertions
  • Document care in the EPIC EMR system
  • Collaborate with in-house respiratory therapy (available 24/7) and hospitalist coverage (7:00 AM–5:00 PM weekdays; family medicine resident on-call after hours)

Requirements

You must hold current ACLS and BLS certifications through the American Heart Association. PALS and NIHSS certifications are preferred. A BSN is not required. You will receive one orientation shift with a preceptor on the unit.

Compensation & Logistics

Weekly pay is $2,368. Block schedules will be accommodated based on unit needs—self-scheduling is not available. Your contract allows cancellation of up to two shifts per 13-week period.

Dress Code & Professionalism

Wear neat, clean navy blue scrubs that you provide. Jackets in navy, grey, or black are permitted (no sweatshirts or hoodies). Hair must be natural color, and any excessive or distasteful tattoos must be covered. A positive attitude and willingness to work are essential.
