ICU Registered Nurse Job in Martinsburg, WV

WVU Berkeley Medical Center is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for a 91-day travel assignment in its 20-bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU). You will work 3x12 rotating night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, with four weekend shifts required per schedule period and rotating holidays. Every-other-weekend requirement applies; nights are Friday/Saturday.

Unit Overview

The ICU supports acute care patients with an average daily census of 16–17 patients. You will maintain patient ratios of 1:1–2 in the ICU and 1:3 in the Step-Down unit. The unit features Philips Cardiac Monitors hardwired to rooms with data flowing directly into EPIC. Servo and Hamilton ventilators are managed by respiratory therapy; you may silence alarms once RT is notified. In-house respiratory therapy is available 24/7.

Clinical Responsibilities

• Administer all typical drips, including moderate conscious sedation using ICU Medical IV Pumps
• Manage patients in collaboration with a Pulmonary Critical Care Intensivist (available during day) and hospitalist (available at night)
• Work with in-house pharmacy 24/7, with unit-based services during the day using Omnicell
• Document in EPIC with monitor and ventilator data flowing directly into the system
• Respond to rapid responses and codes with the designated Charge Nurse available 24/7

Requirements & Details

Required certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), and NIHSS. Preferred certifications include PALS and TNCC. BSN is not required. Travelers typically do not float outside the ICU. You will receive 1–2 shifts of orientation with a preceptor following general hospital orientation on your first day.

Dress code: Navy blue scrubs; navy or white jacket; white or navy undershirt; natural hair color required; distasteful tattoos must be covered.

Assignment Details

Assignment duration is 91 days, starting September 22, 2026. Weekly pay is $2,341. The client may cancel up to 2 shifts per 13-week assignment or 1 shift for assignments shorter than 13 weeks.
