Respiratory Therapist Job in New Orleans, LA

Ochsner Medical Center - New Orleans is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for a travel assignment treating adult and geriatric patient populations. This is a 91-day position starting November 23, 2026, on a 3x12 nights schedule at $1,920 per week.

Core Responsibilities

• Perform respiratory therapy skills including adult critical care, mechanical ventilation, BiPAP/CPAP, aerosol treatments, high-flow nasal cannula, intubation assistance, and tracheostomy care
• Draw and interpret arterial blood gases
• Support bronchoscopy procedures and ECMO management
• Monitor and troubleshoot ventilator alarms; assist with weaning from mechanical ventilation
• Administer respiratory medications including Albuterol, Atrovent, Combivent, Flovent, and other inhaled therapies
• Perform chest physiotherapy and patient transport

Requirements

• Current Louisiana or compact state license (must be in hand at submission)
• Minimum 1 year respiratory therapy experience; 2 years preferred
• Current ACLS, BLS, and CRT/RRT certifications
• Experience RTs only; first-time travelers accepted, but new graduates are not eligible
• Epic charting system experience preferred

Additional Details

• Weekend coverage scheduled as needed
• Must be willing to work 2 of 4 designated holiday periods annually: Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's
