Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg Tele

Job Details:

• Progressive Care Unit (PCU) registered nurse position with a 1:5 patient ratio
• 8 weekend shifts required per 6-week schedule period, with a combination of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday shifts; must be willing to work at least 2 Fridays, 2 Saturdays, and 2 Sundays per 6-week period
• Holiday shifts and Charge RN assignments required as needed per unit
• Regular floating may be required between departments, units, and facilities as needed
• No on-call required
• Block scheduling not available
• Guaranteed hours: 3 shifts per 13-week contract period
• 2 years of experience required; travel experience required
• First-time travelers accepted
• Home address must be at least 75 miles from the facility; no local candidates accepted
• Maximum of 7 days of requested time off per contract
• Charting system: EPIC
• Daily census: 30 patients; 30 rooms
• Patients served include adults and geriatrics
• Patient diagnoses include stroke, heart failure, suicidal ideation, ETOH withdrawal, respiratory failure, pneumonia, GI bleeding, syncope, TIA, falls, C-diff, post-surgical patients requiring higher level of care monitoring, renal failure, and patients on cardiac drips and heparin
• Required skills include cardiac telemetry monitoring, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, use of rapid response teams, feeding tube care and management, pre/post hemodialysis management, blood product administration, central line and PICC line care and management, peripheral IV care and management, starting IVs, heparin protocols, managing cardiac drips (no titration), CVA care, pre/post neurosurgery care, surgical drain management, high flow nasal cannula (HFNC), interpretation of ABGs, non-invasive airway management, isolation precautions, and wound care/wound vac
• Preferred skills include accessing ports, BiPAP/CPAP management, managing vasoactive drips (no titration), PCA management, traumatic brain injury care, orthopedic trauma and total joint replacement care, chest tube management, tracheostomy management, and experience in ER holding or neuro stepdown settings
• Required certifications: BLS, NIHSS; ACLS preferred
• Interdisciplinary support available including physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and transportation
