About this role

University of Virginia Medical Center is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist for a 13-week contract assignment in the children's hospital. You will work nights on a 3x12 schedule, earning $2,306.88 weekly.

About the Role

You will provide respiratory care across the pediatric continuum, including NICU, PICU, high-risk deliveries, and acute care pediatrics. You must be competent with both the Bunnell Jet Ventilator and HFOV 3100A, and you will care for neonates, infants, adolescents, and pediatric patients. Level 4 NICU experience is required; cardiac PICU experience is preferred. You will float within your scope of practice across facility units as needed and work in a multidisciplinary team environment requiring strong communication and critical thinking skills.

Schedule

Night shifts, 3x12 hours per week (36 or 48 hours available). Every other weekend and every other holiday required. The facility uses a self-scheduling model; your manager will explain during onboarding. Your desired schedule will be accommodated as best as possible but is not guaranteed.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year respiratory therapy experience
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential
  • BLS, NRP, and RRT certifications required
  • Virginia state license required
  • PALS and ACCS certifications preferred
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Willing to float within scope of practice

Licensing

Virginia license is required. You may apply with a pending license provided you can obtain a temporary license before the start date of August 3, 2026. You must hold another state license to be eligible for a Virginia temporary license. References are required.
