Pediatric Respiratory Therapist Job in Charlottesville, VA

University of Virginia Medical Center is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist for a 13-week contract in the Children's Hospital. You will work night shifts on a 4x12 schedule with self-scheduling flexibility and every-other-weekend and every-other-holiday rotation.

Role Overview

You will provide respiratory care across all pediatric units including NICU, PICU, high-risk deliveries, and acute care settings. Your responsibilities include managing neonates, infants, adolescents, and pediatric patients; demonstrating competency with the Bunnell Jet Ventilator and HFOV 3100A; collaborating within a multidisciplinary team; and floating within your scope of practice as needed. You will chart in Epic and apply strong communication and critical thinking skills daily.

Required Qualifications

• RRT credential
• Level 4 NICU experience
• Minimum 1 year of respiratory therapy experience
• Virginia state license in hand at submission (or pending with temporary license obtainable before start date if another state license is on file)
• Current BLS, NRP, and RRT certifications
• Copy of all required certifications must accompany submission

Preferred Qualifications

• Cardiac PICU experience
• PALS and ACCS certifications
• BSN degree

Schedule & Compensation

36 or 48 hours per week available. Weekly pay is $3,075.84. Contract runs 13 weeks, beginning August 3, 2026.
