RN - Med Surg

Job Details:

• Maintain a professional image and exhibit excellent customer relations with patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers
• Assess patient needs through history, observation, physical examination, and data analysis
• Provide appropriate nursing interventions consistent with the Plan of Care and standard of practice
• Incorporate physician-prescribed medical plans of care into patient treatment
• Conduct hourly rounds utilizing the 4 P's
• Foster an environment that demonstrates caring, compassion, and respect for patients, families, and visitors
• Utilize appropriate health and safety equipment to protect both patients and staff
• Apply standard work practices when caring for central lines, chest tubes, foley and suprapubic catheters, pressure ulcers, restraints, and high fall-risk patients
• Precept and mentor novice employees to contribute to overall department performance
• Support hospital-system initiatives and nursing-involved Evidence Based Practices
• Demonstrate continued professional growth through goal setting and participation in educational offerings
• Understand and recognize appropriate storage and safety of medications including large volume IVs, saline, and medications in pre-packaged kits
• Work within a 30-bed med/surg department
