Med Surg RN Job in Florence, SC

You will work as a Registered Nurse on a Medical Surgical/General Surgery unit at MUSC Health - Florence. This is a 13-week contract position offering 4x12 night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, with every other weekend required. You will manage a patient ratio of 1:6, with occasional 1:7 assignments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct patient care to adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients undergoing general surgery procedures
• Manage common diagnoses including thyroidectomy, mastectomy, hiatal hernia, cholecystectomy, colon resection, nephrectomy, hysterectomy, bladder sling, penile implants, cysto/TURBT, blunt trauma, debridement/skin graft, and GI bleed cases
• Perform specialized nursing skills: central line blood draws, chest tube management, tracheostomy care, colostomy/ileostomy management, wound vac management, and continuous bladder irrigation (CBI)
• Operate equipment including BiPAP/CPAP, wound vac, IV pumps, central lines, remote telemetry monitoring, and pressure reduction surfaces
• Round with surgeons and facilitate pre-operative preparation including Hibclels baths
• Float within scope to meet facility needs and participate in on-call rotation

Requirements:

• Current RN license (SC or Multi-State/Compact) and BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
• Experience with Epic charting system required
• Minimum 3 years of nursing experience highly preferred; first-time travelers accepted but not preferred
• Trauma Level I and II experience preferred; previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Availability for holiday rotation and willingness to work holidays is a priority
