PCU - Progressive Care Unit

Opportunity:

Registered Nurse - PCU

Job Details:

• Night shift position on a PCU/Telemetry unit
• Patient ratios of 5:1 for nights and weekends
• Weekend coverage required
• Float required as needed within the hospital and to sister facilities within a 10-mile radius
• Minimum 1 year of experience required
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Cerner charting system experience preferred
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS (AHA certifications only accepted)
• Active PA or Compact license required
• Common patient diagnoses include CHF, new onset Afib, COPD, and pneumonia
• Patients served include adults and geriatrics
• Administer and manage drips including Heparin, Bumex, Cardizem, Nitro, Amiodarone, and Dopamine per protocol
• No insulin drips; hypoglycemic/insulin protocols in use
• Key skills required include cardiac telemetry, central line care and management, BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, heparin protocols, interpretation of dysrhythmias, management of dysrhythmias, PICC line management, tracheostomy care, wound care, and use of rapid response/code teams
• Interdisciplinary support available including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
• Candidates must be available to work every other holiday
• Two supervisor references preferred
