PCU RN Job in Altoona, PA

Join West Central – UPMC Altoona as a Registered Nurse in our Progressive Care Unit. You will work three 12-hour shifts per week (approximately 36 hours weekly) on a rotating schedule, providing direct patient care and clinical leadership on the unit.

Your Responsibilities:

• Deliver comprehensive patient care activities, managing a group of patients and their families using independent judgment, clear communication, and active collaboration with the care team
• Formulate daily goals and individualized plans of care that address each patient's physical, social, safety, psychological, and spiritual needs
• Apply critical thinking to identify and address clinical issues, safety concerns, and psychosocial factors affecting patient outcomes
• Participate actively in quality improvement initiatives specific to the department or unit
• Integrate research and evidence-based practice into your clinical decision-making to advance care quality
• Serve as a full partner on the care team, responding willingly to team member requests for assistance and support
• Provide detailed, patient-centered education to patients and families to guide them through their episodes of care and transitions
• Maintain strong working relationships with colleagues and external partners through accountability, motivation, and professional commitment

Qualifications:

• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Pennsylvania Act 31, Act 33, Act 34, and Act 73 compliance
