PCU - Progressive Care Unit

RN - Stepdown

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour day shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM, 3 shifts per week
• Must work every other weekend, including both Saturday and Sunday
• Must work either Christmas or New Year's holiday, rotating into permanent staff holiday schedule
• 28-bed private room stepdown unit (3W Stepdown)
• Patient ratios of 1:4-5, or 1:6 for MedSurg acuity patients
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
• Charting system: EPIC (currently transitioning from Cerner)
• Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips; unit also serves as central monitor station for the entire hospital
• Must be able to titrate drips including Cardizem, Nitro, Dopamine, Dobutamine, and Heparin; insulin is set-rate only; no sedation drips
• Experience with Bipap, CPAP, and High Flow respiratory support required
• Heavy cardiac patient population including dysrhythmias, CVAs, and patients downgraded from the ICU
• May float to ICU in a helping hands capacity
• Two shifts of floor-specific orientation provided with a preceptor
• Scrub color requirement: Navy blue; jackets, if worn, must also be navy blue
• BSN not required
• Day charge nurse carries no assignments; night charge nurse may carry an assignment
