PCU - Progressive Care Unit

Opportunity:

RN - Stepdown

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Weekend requirement applies depending on staffing, could be every other weekend
• Holiday requirement on a rotational basis
• No on-call or standby requirement
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3 for stepdown patients and 1:6 for med/surg patients
• Care for trauma and general med/surg patients including brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, traumatic fractures, and complex trauma cases
• Manage respiratory-compromised patients including BiPAP management, blood gas interpretation, tracheostomies, and chronic vent-dependent patients
• Titrate drips including Cardizem, Labetalol, Amiodarone, and others (no sedative drips on unit)
• Perform basic EKG interpretation with telemetry tech support available for strip reading
• Utilize respiratory therapy equipment including BiPAP, CPAP, and chronic/non-weaning vents
• Float on a rotational basis with other staff members on the unit
• Wear royal blue scrubs per dress code requirements
• Chart using EPIC system
• 2 shift cancellation policy per 13-week contract
• Required certifications: ACLS and BLS
• Strong assessment skills and ability to adapt to a fast-paced work environment required
