PCU - Progressive Care Unit

Opportunity:

RN - Stepdown

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• 4 shifts per week with every other weekend or 2 weekend shifts per schedule required
• Holiday shifts required as part of the rotation
• Flexibility required as 3 consecutive shifts may be allowed but are not guaranteed
• 2 shifts of unit-specific orientation provided
• Cancellation policy: 2 shifts per 13-week contract
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3 for Stepdown and 1:5-6 for EMU (Epilepsy Monitoring Unit)
• Nurse aides available on unit at a ratio of 1:8-9 with 4 aides per shift
• Charge nurse available 24/7
• Respiratory therapy available 24/7 to manage floor vents; RNs are not required to have vent experience
• Telemetry on unit; RNs are not required to read strips
• Care for higher acuity neuroscience patients including strokes, seizures, craniotomies, and EMU patients
• Experience with EVDs preferred; TPA patients managed by permanent staff only
• Strong neurology experience required including history of caring for stroke patients and implementing NIH protocols
• NIHSS certification required at time of submission; ACLS preferred
• Required certifications: BLS, NIHSS
• EPIC charting system experience required
• Possible floating to units 7E, 7W, 7NE, or 10W
• Royal blue scrubs required
• Acute care setting
