PCU - Progressive Care Unit

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour day shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM; must be on the unit and ready to go by 6:45 AM
• Weekend shifts required; Friday, Saturday, and Sunday are all considered weekend shifts with 4 weekend day shifts per 4-week schedule
• Self-scheduling is allowed as long as unit needs are met; staff are allowed 4 requested days off per month
• 30-bed Intermediate Care Unit with 14 private and 16 semi-private rooms
• Patient ratios goal is 1:4, though typically running 1:5 and occasionally 1:6
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
• BSN not required
• Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips independently; facility uses Nihon Kohden tele monitors
• Must be able to titrate drips including Amiodarone, Cardizem, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Labetalol, Nitro, Heparin, and occasionally Lasix
• Charting system: EPIC; EMR: Sunrise
• All respiratory equipment managed by Respiratory Therapy; IV team handles all IV starts and is in-house 24/7
• Hospitalist, intensivist, and residents are all in-house 24/7
• Pharmacy is in-house 24/7 using Pyxis
• Common diagnoses include chest pain, rule-out MI, CHF, arrhythmias, post pacer, pre/post caths, groin checks, and patients on Tikosyn therapy
• All staff required to float as needed into telemetry or med-surg with ratios up to 1:6, occasionally 1:7 in med-surg
• Scrub color requirement: Navy blue top and bottom with navy scrub jackets; no hoodies
• Must adhere to strict attendance policy; 2 occurrences of tardiness or call-offs within a 13-week contract may result in termination
• Copy of unexpired driver's license must be submitted with application; 50-mile radius rule applies
• Any licensing hits must be disclosed at time of submission
