PCU - Progressive Care Unit

RN - Stepdown

Job Details:

• Weekend day shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• Holidays scheduled as assigned
• Acute care setting
• Unit consists of 32 beds total: 22 stepdown beds and 10 floor beds
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: Stepdown 1:3 and Floor 1:5 or 1:6
• Cardiac experience preferred
• RNs required to titrate drips including heparin, insulin, nitro, Cardizem, nicardipine, Lasix, amiodarone, and dobutamine
• RT equipment includes nasal cannula, CPAP, BiPAP, HFNC, and trach to vent with dedicated RT on the floor
• Telemetry monitoring via Phillips system with dedicated tele techs monitoring and recording strips
• Self-scheduling through Kronos with block scheduling generally allowed
• Weekend requirements: 3-4 Saturday/Sunday shifts, 2 Fridays, and 2 Mondays per 4-week schedule period
• Holiday requirements: One eve and one day holiday per holiday pair (Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, New Year's Eve/New Year's Day)
• No call or standby requirement
• Floating requirements apply - traveler may be pulled to floor assignment on a rotational basis, typically 1 out of every 3 shifts
• Royal blue scrubs required
• Charting system: EPIC
• BSN not required
• Cancellation policy: 2 shifts per 13-week assignment; 1 shift for assignments less than 13 weeks
• Required certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), NIHSS
• Common diagnoses include cardiology, heart failure, cardiac surgery, and med-surg/hospitalist patients
