PCU - Progressive Care Unit

RN - Stepdown

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• 2 weekends required per schedule
• Holiday shifts worked into permanent staff holiday schedule
• Unit is a combined Stepdown and Floor unit with 32 total beds (12 Stepdown and 20 Floor)
• Patient ratios of 1:3 for Stepdown and 1:4-6 for Floor patients
• Common diagnoses include chest pain, COPD, altered mental status, pneumonia, UTI, abdominal pain, overflow for most services, and hospice/GIP Hospice patients
• Stepdown patients may have titratable drips; floor patients receive PCAs, heparin, and similar medications
• Must be able to read telemetry strips in conjunction with telemetry monitor techs who continuously monitor strips
• Floating to any floor or stepdown unit may be required
• Free charge nurse budgeted per unit with house supervisor always available
• Nurse aides available with up to 4 when fully staffed for 32 beds
• Charting system: EPIC
• Scrub color: Royal Blue
• Cancellation policy: 2 shifts per 13-week contract
• Required certification: BLS
