PCU - Progressive Care Unit

RN - Stepdown

Job Details:

• Day shift position working 12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• Every other weekend required with holidays worked as scheduled
• No on-call or standby requirement
• Flex unit serving both floor and step-down patients based on patient and hospital needs
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: 3:1 for step-down and 6:1 for floor/med-surg patients
• Must be able to handle both a 6-patient med-surg assignment and a 3-patient step-down assignment
• EPIC charting system experience required
• RNs will have orders written to titrate drips including heparin, insulin, anti-hypertensives, antiarrhythmics, phenobarbital, ketamine, morphine/dilaudid/fentanyl PCAs, and TPN
• Will work with CPAP, BiPAP, and HiFlow equipment; step-down patients may also require ventilator management with ICU transfer for vent setting adjustments
• Phillips telemetry monitoring equipment used; remote telemetry surveillance center available with RNs not expected to read their own strips
• Charge RNs and House Supervisors available 24/7
• Clinical Associates (nurse aides) available with a goal of 1:10 ratio
• First to float or be pulled to other floor or step-down units
• Scrub color requirement: any combination of royal blue and white
• Required certification: BLS (AHA)
• BSN not required
