PCU - Progressive Care Unit

RN - Stepdown

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour day shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• Every other weekend required
• Holidays worked as scheduled, expected to work approximately half of all recognized holidays
• No call or standby requirement
• Flex unit serving both floor and step-down patients based on patient and hospital needs
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: 3:1 for step-down and 6:1 for floor/med-surg patients
• Clinical Associates (nurse aides) available on the unit with a goal ratio of 1:10
• Diverse patient population with primarily medical diagnoses
• RNs will have orders written to titrate drips including heparin, insulin, anti-hypertensives, antiarrhythmics, phenobarbital, ketamine, morphine/dilaudid/fentanyl PCAs, and TPN
• Respiratory equipment includes CPAP and BiPAP on floor and step-down, HiFlow and vents in step-down (patients requiring vent setting adjustments are transferred to ICU)
• Remote telemetry surveillance center available with central monitoring on the unit using Philips telemetry monitoring equipment; RNs are not expected to read their own strips
• Charge RNs and House Supervisors available 24/7
• First to float or be pulled to other floor/step-down units
• Charting system: EPIC experience required
• Scrub color: Any combination of royal blue and white
• Required certification: BLS (AHA)
• BSN not required
