PCU - Progressive Care Unit

Job Details:

• Work on A 4 West Adult Med Surg unit, located on the 4th floor
• Unit consists of 34 beds
• Day shift staffing includes 1 Charge RN, 6-7 RNs, 3 CNAs, and 1 HUC
• Night shift staffing includes 1 Charge RN, 5-7 RNs, 2 CNAs, and 1 HUC
• Day shift patient ratio is 1:4-6; night shift patient ratio is 1:5-7
• EMR system used is Cerner
• Typical procedures include IV fluids, tube feeds, PEG feedings, and IV antibiotics
• Must demonstrate telemetry rhythm capabilities, critical thinking, and time management skills
• Must be able to assess med-surg level patients and alert Charge RN, Manager, Rapid Response, or Provider when acuity changes
• Must demonstrate strong communication skills and punctuality
• ACLS certification is preferred
• Required certification: BLS
• Dress code: Navy blue scrubs
• Must attend huddles at 6:50 AM for day shift or 6:50 PM for night shift
• Must clock out and in for meal breaks
• Must clock in no earlier than 6:38 AM or 6:38 PM depending on shift
• Floating may be required to other med-surg units and occasionally to the holding pod of the ED
• Every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts per pay period required
