PCU RN Job in Asheville, NC

You will work as an RN in a 40-bed Cardiovascular Progressive Care unit at Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC. This role focuses on caring for patients recovering from CV and vascular surgery, including open heart surgery (CABG, AVR, MVR, Bentall, TAVR), thoracic lung surgery, esophagogastrectomy, AAA repair, fem-pop bypass, and carotid endarterectomies. You will also receive overflow medical cardiology patients with diagnoses such as heart failure, DKA, chest pain, sepsis, and heart block.

Your responsibilities include:

• Manage a patient ratio of 1:5 patients per RN
• Perform epidural management, chest tube management, tube feedings, IV glucommander, and cardiac drip management (phenylephrine, dobutamine, dopamine, milrinone, cardizem, amiodarone, insulin, heparin, nitroglycerin, ketamine)
• Utilize Baxter IV pumps, CADD epidural pumps, various lifts, and Cerner EMR
• Float to any stepdown unit (1:5 ratios), medical/surgical unit (1:6-7 ratios), or ER inpatient holding area (1:6 ratios) as needed

Required qualifications:

• Stepdown experience required
• Telemetry experience required
• ACLS and BLS certifications

Preferred qualifications:

• Prior CV surgery and vascular surgery population experience within the past year (open heart, TAVR, lobectomy, AAA repair, fem-pop bypass)
• CVICU experience

Schedule details:

• 3x12 Nights (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM)
• Minimum of 6 weekend shifts (Saturday/Sunday day or night) required per 6-week schedule period
• Must be flexible to work holidays
• No on-call requirements

Dress code is all navy, white tops/navy bottoms, or all white scrubs. This is an 91-day travel assignment starting June 15, 2026, with weekly pay of $2,102.40.
