Med Surg RN Job in Colorado Springs, CO

Penrose Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse for a Med Surg position on the 5th floor. You will work 3x12-hour night shifts with self-scheduling and block scheduling options available. This is a 91-day assignment starting November 2, 2026, with weekly compensation of $2,073.60.

Role Responsibilities:

• Provide direct patient care on a 22-bed Med Surg unit with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4
• Read and interpret your own telemetry strips, as monitor techs are not on the unit
• Titrate drips including analgesics for pain, anticoagulants for blood clots, and antihypertensives for blood pressure control
• Utilize respiratory therapy equipment including CPAP, BiPAP, high flow, and ventilators
• Float within Zone 1 as needed to ICU (low acuity holds), PCU/Stepdown, and MS-Tele
• Chart using EPIC

Unit Details:

• Common patient diagnoses include congestive heart failure, hypertension, chest pain work-ups, COPD exacerbations, asthma, pneumonia, pancreatitis, bowel obstructions, gastrointestinal bleeding, and acute renal failure
• Nurse aide support available at a 1:50 ratio
• Charge nurse takes an assignment on this unit
• Minimum 6-9 weekend shifts required per 6-week schedule
• Holiday requirement applies
• Call or standby requirement determined by Nurse Manager

Requirements:

• Current RN licensure
• ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), TNCC, and NIHSS certifications required
• Valid driver's license
• Must reside outside a 60-mile radius of the facility
• Must be present in state for orientation week
• Navy blue scrubs required
