Sterile Processing Technician Job in Charleston, SC

MUSC Health Charleston is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician for a travel assignment. You will work three 12-hour day shifts per week—Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM, with holiday rotation expected. This is a temp-to-perm opportunity with a 91-day contract beginning September 28, 2026. Weekly pay is $1,192.32.

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of sterile processing experience; first-time travelers are not accepted
• Current CBSPD and/or IAHCSMM/HSPA certification
• Travel experience required
• Level I Trauma facility experience required
• Proficiency in sterilization, decontamination, and assembly/wrap procedures

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform sterilization wrapping and high-level disinfection
• Execute immediate-use steam sterilization and scope/probe reprocessing
• Assemble and prepare sets and trays with aseptic technique
• Operate washers and sterilizers; monitor biological and chemical indicators
• Handle fiber optics and specialized equipment including bronchoscopes, enteroscopes, crash carts, IV pumps, and PCA pumps
• Support diverse patient populations including adolescents, infants, adults, pediatrics, and geriatrics

Preferred Experience: Neuro, GU, Robotics, ENT, Ortho, Transplant, and GYN cases.

Assignment Details: You may float or be permanently reassigned to CSC, ART, or West Campus to meet facility needs. The facility is permitted to call off one shift per two weeks. All time off must be requested at contract submission; no requests approved after signing. You are expected to work holidays unless requested in advance. Attendance expectations include no more than two callouts without a doctor's note; a third callout may result in removal. No more than three tardies are permitted. You will be assigned to an inclement weather team with expectations provided by management.
